Hat for my sister!...and mittens!

Here's a hat for my sister. Made with Lion Brand Wool Ease Color 139 Dark Rose Heather, a handspun pumpkin colored wool I got at "The Big-E" and Classic Elite Inca Alpaca Color 1120 Kentucky Teal (which my sister picked out for herself since it matches her eyes and is super soft!) The alpaca is amazing. I love it. I think if the hat were all alpaca it would be too drapey tho. I think I'll make matching mittens now!

Matching mittens now! Made by transferring hat pattern to "Smitten With Mittens" basic mitten pattern by Charlotte Parry, Family Circle Easy Knitting Magazine, Fall 2005.

Blasphemous Hat

This is a prototype hat for one I want to make for my sister. Blasphemous for a yarn snob since is a mixture of a very luxurious alpaca yarn with *cringe* lots of acrylic. Is made from the slightest bit of Classic Elite Inca Marl Color 1195. Is gorgeous yarn. Will have to increase it's ratio on hat for my sister. It is with Lion Brand Wool Ease Color 139 Dark Rose Heather (not so bad...is 20% wool afterall), TLC Heathers Color 2455 Purple Haze (getting worse...but still lovely color) and *gasp* a cream colored nasty acrylic that is so old I can't remember where I got it. Pattern is "Kate's Cap Design No. 27 by Louise."

Matching mittens now! My mother has made a claim on the set.

I Lurv Coldplay Socks

Look at the stars
Look how they shine for you
And all the things you do

Yeah they were all purple

I came along
I wrote a song for you
And everything you do
And it was called purple

So then I took my turn
Oh what a thing to have done
And it was all purple

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know you know I love you so
You know I love you so

I swam across
I jumped across for you
Oh what a thing to do
Cause you were all purple

I drew a line
I drew a line for you
Oh what a thing to do my love
And it was all purple yeah yeah yeah

Your skin
Oh yeah your skin and bones
Turn into something beautiful
D'you know for you I'd bleed myself dry
For you I'd bleed myself dry

It's true! look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine for you
look how they shine
look at the stars look how they shine for you
and all the things that you do

Socks are made from Froehlich Wolle Blauband Maxi Ringel Farbe 7740 PURPLE!!! Have never used this wool before but I couldn't resist because the colors are so great and the packaging is cute with extra reinforcing wool included (which I did actually use on heel and most of toe). Feels good too...hope it washes well. Pattern is basic 60 stitch sock on size 2 needles with Welsh Heel and Star Toe of Three Points a la Lichen Ribbed Sock from Nancy Bush's Knitting Vintage Socks. Yarn is from Village Needleworks in Avon, CT. Claustrophobic store with lovely owner. Went back for 4 more skeins once I started working with this great yarn!
